JAMES D. MARKS, P.E.
President
James D. Marks graduated from the University of Florida in 1966 with a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Post-graduate
studies in structural engineering were undertaken at the University of
Florida and the University of Miami.
Upon graduation from the University of Florida, Mr. Marks’s career
began in Miami with a consulting engineering firm. In 1971, James D.
Marks Associates, Consulting Engineers and Planners was founded.
As Principal and Chief Engineer, his duties were extended to include
planning, coordination, project analysis and review, cost analysis, and
on-site construction review.
About Us

Projects include commercial, residential, industrial and institutional buildings. Projects also
include special structures such as bridges, marine structures, modular systems,
cofferdams, foundations, communication towers, and parking garages.
Mr. Marks has served as an Expert Witness on many construction and engineering cases.
He has also been a referee or mediator for other conflicts.
In addition to his duties as an officer of the firm, Mr. Marks has also been an instructor at the
University of Miami, Department of Continuing Education, and the Building Official for the
Town of Pennsuco.
His professional and technical memberships have included the National Structural
Engineers Association, the Florida Structural Engineers Association (past Director of South
Florida Section), the American Consulting Engineers Council, the Florida Institute of
Consulting Engineers (past Director), the American Society of Civil Engineers (Life Member),
the American Concrete Institute, the Prestressed Concrete Institute, the Post-Tensioning
Institute, the American Institute of Timber Construction and the National Fire Prevention
Association.
Mr. Marks is a Professional Engineer in Florida, PE License No: 11634.

Engineers, CA License No: 1802.
